Lisa LaPorta Q&A: Making Sustainable Choices

Pfister is pleased to be working with interior designer and HGTV host Lisa LaPorta. In addition to LaPorta’s series of design inspiration videos, for the next few weeks we’ll be posting questions Pfister customers have posed to LaPorta along with her response.

We’re also excited to announce, for the first time on the blog, this month’s Pfister online contest. The Pfister WaterSense Faucet 10-Day Giveawaywill help make water conservation beautiful and simple for 10 families. With that in mind, here is a special question and answer to start off this new series.

Q: What are some easy ways to make my home more sustainable?

Lisa: There are several products on the market now that can help homeowners “green” things up.

    • The easiest and most common change is to swap out standard light bulbs with high efficiency bulbs.
    • When painting a room, look for low VOC or no VOC paint, which designates the levels of volatile organic compounds.
    • Replace old faucets, showerheads and toilets with newer styles that meet higher environmental standards, are considered low-flow, and/or are WaterSense certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, which includes many of Pfister’s faucets.
    • For a little more money, you can replace major appliances with energy-saving models. Some electric and gas utilities companies will even provide you with cash incentives to upgrade to an energy-efficient model!

A big thank you to Lisa for those tips to get you started with conservation at home. The Environmental Protection Agency recently released the following public service announcement with more ways to make your home pollution free and more sustainable:

For 10 days starting Friday April 13th Pfister will be giving away a Pfister EPA WaterSense certified faucet every day to help 10 families get a jump on saving water in their home. Return every day and answer our water conservation trivia for your chance to win. Visit our Facebook fan page to learn more and share your water conservation tips all month.
