Our biggest kitchen design challenge is fitting everything into a small condo-sized kitchen while still leaving sufficient countertop space to assemble a dinner. But we manage. In fact, a couple of times, we’ve hosted full fledged holiday dinner parties for up to 35 people in our little 900-square-foot condo!! And nobody spilled anything! 😉

This summer I’m remodeling my family home..parents 60s ranch.
It’s small more on the lines of a cottage or bungalow..but charming on a lake with 10 aces.
The kitchen is so small..gallery style.
I have two challenges..to open up and add on or reconfigure.
Which leads to design challenge number two. Piping..I would love to have the water pipes moves to the back wall overlooking the lake. But, might be to costly.
    Thanks so much,

Currently, our biggest challenge in the kitchen is to reduce the size of our island. It’s too large for the room, they didn’t build it at the right dimensions, and we just deal with it. But It is the first place to get cluttered as everyone walks through and lays something on it and it’s a challenge to keep it cleaned off.

My biggest kitchen design challenge is where to store all the gadgets and tools while having not so much counter space. If I stuff them in a drawer or cabinet, I’m going to forget about them or think they are too much of a pain to get out. I have the big stand mixer, the Blendtec, the Cusinart, the knife block, the caddy to keep tools by the stove, the coffeemaker, the coffee canister, etc.

My challenge is using my kitchen sink without needing a wet suit! I recently bought this house, and after closing I found that the sink is only 5 inches deep! Normal kitchen sinks are 8 inches deep! Until I can replace it ( moving is expensive!), I guess I’ll make like Jacques Cousteau and wear my wet suit when washing dishes!

The size, it is too small. There is wasted space that could be utilized for counter and cabinet space.

My biggest design challenge would be space. I’d love more counter space, but we don’t really even have the room for more. We have a breakfast nook off our kitchen, but that’s tiny, too. One day I’d love to knock the walls between the kitchen and nook down, and then maybe put in an island with seating. I’ve always wanted to have a place to eat in the kitchen.

The most difficult design challenge I have in my kitchen is that I don’t have a working triangle, and absolutely NO COUNTER SPACE, and It makes it extremely difficult to do any kind of work. I love to bake bread, and I have NO place to work the dough, and then I can’t reach my faucet (which is a Pfister!) to wash my hands when needed. I love my 104 yr old house, but I really don’t want to spend the $$$ to update it like I would like it to be. ☹️

I’m not sure this is necessarily a design problem, but the biggest obstacle I have in my kitchen is a small oven! My biggest cookies sheet doesn’t even fit in it 🙁
A problem with the design of the house is, people need to walk through the kitchen to get into the living-room 🙁
