Five Cool Tiny Places to Stay on Vacation Find a Tiny Vacation Rental for a Cozy Summer Getaway

The Summer season is approaching and we’ve been daydreaming about the perfect getaway. There are so many beautiful and unique options out there, and we thought it would be fun to check out tiny space living. You know, a sort of “try before you buy” approach. We searched vacation rental sites like Airbnb, HomeAway, and even found a niche vacation rental site called Try it Tiny, to find some unique tiny places that anyone can rent for an ideal tiny getaway.
There are lots of small spaces you can rent, like a single room, but we wanted to focus on tiny living spaces that include amenities of a home (think bathroom and kitchen space).

Green Gate Log cabin – Biwabik, Minnesota

Try it Tiny – Green Gate Log cabin

Our first stop is a tiny log cabin tucked away in the appropriately small town of Biwabik, Minnesota. As part of a collection of small historic homes, this cabin really gives you a “pioneer” feeling. The whole space is 15’ x15’ and is a cozy space for up to 3 guests.

The kitchen includes a farm sink with Pfister’s Ainsley faucet installed, a 2-burner gas cooktop, a refrigerator/freezer. This cabin is also equipped with modern features like air conditioning for warm summer days and in-floor heating for chilly nights.

The bathroom features Pfister very popular Ashfield faucet which, we feel, really fits the rustic aesthetic. There are great views of the surrounding forest and you get a rustic feeling with lots of style.

Elegant Shipping Container – Waco, Texas

Airbnb – Elegant Shipping Container

A shipping container is definitely not your typical tiny home or the first thing you think of when you imagine a vacation rental. This 20’shipping container was converted to a beautiful tiny home and is located just north of Waco, Texas. With elegant details like a custom tiled shower, spacious bathroom, induction cooktop, and a rooftop deck – you never feel like you’re in a shipping container. The kitchen is bright and spacious with Pfister’s Cantara pull out faucet.

The outside has been covered in pine shiplap to insulate the container, and the old metal doors were removed and replaced with picturesque full glass. For the super fan of the HGTV show “Fixer Upper”, this container is less than 15 minutes from Chip and Joanna Gains’ Magnolia Market At The Silos.

Converted Bus – Portland, Oregon

Airbnb – Converted Bus

If you want to be adventurous in your tiny home vacation rental, we found a converted bus in North Portland, Oregon. Lady Bluebird is a 1984 Bluebird bus which was converted into an RV.

The bus is in a great location, and comes equipped with a private bath with Pfister’s Pasadena Tub and Shower, basic kitchenette, and has ample space for two people to sleep comfortably. There is a private outdoor area adjacent to the bus with a shaded seating, a BBQ, and a fire-pit – perfect for roasting s’mores on a warm summer night. You can also rent bikes so you can explore around town.

Camper/RV – Tokyo, Japan

Airbnb – Tokyo Camper/RV

If you’re feeling extra adventurous and want to explore tiny rentals on an international level, we found a Camper in Tokyo Japan. Tokyo is a big city on an island with limited space, so people living in Japan are not strangers to small living spaces. The owners made good use of the space, the camper has little details like a table that folds up if needed. There are many features you’d expect in a rental. There is a shower and ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, Wifi, and a secluded deck perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing around Tokyo. It may be a tight fit, but it has everything you need.
