A lot of our nation’s plumbing infrastructure was laid down decades ago. Materials used to create these old pipes, such as lead, can start leaking into our drinking water. And because prolonged exposure to even low levels of lead can cause serious health issues (like brain damage, learning disabilities, and mental and physical developmental problems), it’s wise to protect ourselves any way we can.
Way back on Sept. 30, 2006, then-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Calif. Assembly Bill 1953 into law mandating all new plumbing fixtures and parts designed for consumption to meet rigorous criteria for safer water. AB1953 reduced the allowable amount of lead in defined plumbing fixtures to a maximum of 0.25 percent.
The Vermont State Senate adopted its own piece of legislation, Senate Bill S.152, which practically mirrored California’s new standard.
Both bills went into effect Jan. 1, 2010, prohibiting the sale of any products that fail to meet these low lead criteria.
The plumbing world was quick to respond, and Pfister instantly became a leader in providing an amazing range of low lead bathroom and kitchen faucets. These safety-smart faucets comply with low lead legislation, maintain the high-quality performance Pfister is known for, and add to the overall décor of a bathroom and kitchen, two of the busiest areas of the home.
Pfister low lead bathroom faucets come in all the styles and themes you’ve come to expect from the manufacturer. From contemporary and traditional to the very popular transitional, these bathroom faucets are able to maintain their eye-catching appeal. In addition, most of Pfister’s low lead bathroom faucets come with ADA compliant lever handles.
Pfister’s low lead kitchen faucets also provide a boost in décor, while providing the safest drinking water available. Pfister single handle and double handle low lead kitchen faucets include features like pullout spray spouts, 360-degree swivel spouts, and soap dispensers.
And while adhering to California and Vermont’s low lead policies, Pfister goes one step further. Most of its low lead bathroom and kitchen faucets are also WaterSense rated, meeting the EPA’s strict guidelines for environmentally conscious water usage.
Safe drinking water, versatile features, and eco-friendly flow rates. Now, these are ideas from Pfister we could get used to.
Until next time, Happy Home Improving!
