Our second annual “Faucet Design Challenge” has concluded and we are thrilled to announce this years’ winner, Aura Escobar, for her incredible “Palafito” faucet concept.
Palafito by Aura Escobar
PALAFITO is influenced by the antique architecture built by Venezuelan Natives, who live by the shore at Maracaibo City. Palafito, is how this traditional architecture is known. The structure is reflected in the design through the triangular shapes that support the houses. My objective was to translate traditional Venezuelan architecture into a modern and trendy design, but keeping the tropical and native feeling.
This summer Pfister asked designers and trade professionals to create an original faucet concept inspired by their favorite destination. Pfister’s marketing and industrial design leaders chose the Ten Semi-Finalists from the incredible pool of submissions based on creativity, quality of the design submission, originality and their ability to capture the essence of their “Inspired Destination”. From there, we opened the contest up to consumer voting on Facebook to let our audience chose the winner (and one lucky voter won cash for themselves!)
Aura is an industrial design student at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio–and quite a good one in our opinions! She will receive a cash prize and a trip this fall to our Lake Forest, CA headquarters for a day with our Industrial Design team. Check back for an update on her California tour and photos of her design session!
Congratulations again to Aura and many thanks to the creative and talented designers who participated again this year! View the 2015 Top Ten Finalists.
