The Contempra Design Story – Pure modern at it’s finest

Looking to the past and drawing inspiration from the early 20th century design movement Bauhaus, the Contempra collection of bath products incorporates geometric shapes and clean contemporary lines for a timeless pure modern presence.

What elements of the Contempra design stand out?

Balance and proportion were meticulously honed during the design of the collection. Our design team looked to the “Golden Section”, a mathematical formula developed in ancient Greece that describes the ideal ratio between objects. It has been used extensively throughout the ages in some of the worlds most prominent art and architecture. The Golden Section is also commonly found in nature, leading some mathematicians to theorize that the ratio is of a “divine” origin.

Using the Contempra Widespread Bath Faucet as an example (shown below), key elements of the faucet, the cylindrical handle hubs, cylindrical spout hub, and part line breaks together employ the Golden Section and are designed to visualize the ratio of thirds.

The Contempra Widespread Bath Faucet was a recipient of a 2014 ADEX Gold Award. ADEX (Awards for Design Excellence) is the leading and most prestigious awards program in the architecture and design industry.
